In the beginning...I was just a normal girl!
WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME!
First and foremost, I would like to take the time to introduce myself.
My name is Alison and I am extremely excited to be sharing this newfound journey
of self discovery with you.
After many years of following the "do it by the book" way of living..
30 minute drive to work..
8-5 with an hour lunch break..
30 minute drive home..
homework with my son..
dinner..
bathtime..
bedtime..
REPEAT!!!!!
All the while, getting ready to go through a divorce..
I decided that a CHANGE needed to be made.
Why?
Because I was not happy!
I started looking back into my past for moments where I was happy. I knew I was happy helping people, I knew I was happy when I followed self-care practices, I knew I was happy with my son (and now let's tag my daughter in this.)
I had previously worked as a Probation Officer, and before people get hyped up about that...I will be the first to say that I found the most joy when someone had the "lightbulb" go off above their head after we had sat in my office and had a conversation.
However, I noticed something about myself. Some of the times I was most happiest was when I was helping people, playing music, writing, spending quality time with myself and my children, and generally just being involved with anything artistic. I could be making a coin jar out of a refurbished can of spaghetti sauce that I had made from dinner the night before. You just never knew what I was getting myself into when it came to the arts.
By beginning of 2020, I had accomplished all of the goals I set before myself. I played with some national music acts such as Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Lacey (formerly of Flyleaf, Soil, and Tantric. I met a lot of good people along the way. I also met some really awful people too. The kind you would not ever want to introduce to your mother. I got my Bachelors Degree from UNC-Greensboro in 2012. I worked as a Probation Officer. I had an array of jobs that made my skill set quite varied. I bought my own house in 2017 all by myself. My debts were liquidating thanks to the Dave Ramsey method.
It seemed like I would have a life that most people wanted. One with stability.
Now, don't get me wrong..I appreciated my work and the stability that it provided for my children and I.
I liked my life. ..but I was not IN LOVE with it.
The one thing I found that I was not adhering to was my internal calling to use my talents to fully live my life.
So that brings me up to this moment..Where I have decided to share my moments of creativity with you.
You may be asking why I chose the name "THE GEMINI BLURB".
Well, in fact, I am a gemini and my mind constantly races from one subject to another. You know, we Gemini's do have the gift of gab they say..and yes..I am fully aware of the lovely "flaky" comment that some people love to throw in there..BUUUTTT...I am not concerned about that.
I am here to document all of the things I am learning, trying, and doing in this new adventure.
Some of these things may include the following: A project I am working on, a mental note that I make while in the process of writing my new book on Wattpad, maybe I have learned part of a new language and want to share that, or perhaps heard a funny joke and want to share that as well.
Really, THE SKY IS THE LIMIT on the list of topics I will be hitting in this blog!
This concludes my thoughts for today.
I am looking forward to sharing some fun stuff tomorrow.
Cheers,
Alison
P.S. When this Corona is over, I AM GOING TO NORWAY!
